Blog Post 9 - Getting Waterboarded By Finals

This blog post is unfortunately about 2 weeks late because as we got closer to finals, I slowly became more and more swamped until I was so overwhelmed with things to do that smaller assignments, like this blog post, ended up being completely forgotten. I kept forgetting my planner and didn't check the canvas as often as I should have, because of all the big projects I've had to work on, and now here I am writing this during finals week like an idiot.
During the week that I was supposed to write this blog post, my group and I ended up discussing geometry issues that I had noticed on our sets, and how we'd go about fixing those. Originally, I was just going to try and fix it all myself. But we discussed it, and Sam said he'd simply quad draw it and recreate the geometry with quads and better edge loops. He only started doing that a couple days ago though, because that is the one think he decided he'd try to work on over the summer. We all agreed that this project would be ignored for at least a month before we tentatively began messing with things like fur sims, potential schedules, geometry fixes, rig tests, etc. Each person is only choosing one thing to mess with over the summer, like how Sam is doing the geometry.
Once all of that was figured out, we all hit the ground running in order to get our shots done in time to present our 3D layout animatic. I hadn't done many of my shots at all at this point, and I really wanted to make sure I got at least a little of what was talked about in all the production passes done. Luckily, each of our shots are fairly small and simple, they just combine together into something more complex. So I had a relatively easy time cranking those out as quickly as possible, while still conveying the essence of each shot. Breaking the models was pretty fun, though I cannot WAIT to have access to a rig so that I can mess with them even more!!! I'm looking forward to starting animation next semester!!
I spent most of that week working on my final for Brett's class when not in class, and so some of the shots didn't get completely done. But that was all fixed the next week, so it was okay. I'm very overwhelmed honestly and my brain is having a hard time focusing on things. Even simple things. Even taking things one thing at a time seems to be too many, and I just want this semester to be over so I can stop thinking and just be. But I want to at least try and catch up on any work I missed while focusing so much on finals and accidentally letting other things get shoved to the backburner. It's uncomfortable, leaving things undone like this.
